Hypodermic Needle Theory

The hypodermic Needle Theory can be known as the syringe model of communication but it is commonly known as the 'Magic Bullet'

The Bullet theory states that the message is a bullet fired from the media gun into the audiences head. The Hypodermic Needle model suggests that media messages are injected straight into a passive audience which is immediately influenced by the message. The mass media can have a very large influence on a big group of people directly and shooting and injecting them with appropriate messages to trigger a desired response.

How does this correlate with my short film?

 Audiences have always been very easily guided by different media outlets and still to this day have a big impact on peoples opinions. For my short horror film it will contain some sort of violence which will immediately catch peoples attention especially the younger generation as they love to see what is beyond the world and find out more about the unknown. Some members may copy such violence since they think its acceptable to behave in such manner when in reality crime rates will increase and punishments will be suffice. As a result contributing to age ratings on films. For example a Slasher will have a high age rating because adults are less likely to mimic the actions in the film as they would know the difference between right and wrong.
