Costume And Makeups
The clothes the characters wore were nothing out of the ordinary or too extravagant. For the characters it was just casual everyday clothing giving the realism and showing that the following events could happen to the audience watching, creating a sense of fear and making their minds play tricks on them even though they know the film is not real, doubting themselves thinking maybe it could happen leading to potential nightmares.
The demon wears all black to represent darkness and a sense of evil taking over good. The black signifies that the demon cannot be seen which is shown in the first encounter with the demon for the viewers creating mystery as they can only make assumptions from the shadow the demons casts.
Makeup on the demon produced by Niamh adds to the thought of the audience that this is no normal type of existence and an element of evil that they should dread. The dark shade on the eyes really reflect true evil and the smiling especially signifies that the demon is going to cause a lot of damage in the location that is deemed to be safe. The white shade of makeup shows that the demon isn't necessarily alive but a ghostly figure ready to haunt.
